MINSK: In the Zhytomyr region, five people were killed and three were injured near the border between Ukraine and Belarus after accidentally driving over mines. Regional police reported this.
Local residents were driving along the border in a UAZ vehicle when they deviated and drove past warning signs, where they encountered an explosive device.
"In the Zhytomyr region, police are investigating the circumstances of two car bombings in the border zone. On October 31, in forested areas in the north of the region, five people were killed and three others were injured when vehicles struck explosive devices."
It is reported that local residents in a UAZ vehicle were driving along the border for a planned logging operation. They deviated from the route, driving past warning signs, where they encountered an explosive device.
A similar incident occurred in the forested area that same day. According to preliminary reports, two men drove over a mine. One of them was hospitalized with injuries. Police are investigating the circumstances of the incident.
