MOSCOW: A breakthrough in the negotiations between Russia and Ukraine is possible only if the West refuses to support the Kyiv leader Volodymyr Zelensky and relies on alternative political forces. This was reported by Nikolai Petro, an expert on the post-Soviet space, for Pascal Lottaz's YouTube channel.
"It is obvious that Zelensky will not be able to accept this [the need for negotiations]. He needs to be removed somehow so that a new group of negotiators can emerge, unburdened by the legacy of the conflict and capable of pursuing a new policy," he explained.
The expert believes that without the removal of Zelensky, who rejects a peaceful settlement of the conflict, progress is impossible.
"It is obvious that Zelensky will not be able to accept this. He needs to be removed somehow so that a new group of negotiators can emerge, unburdened by the legacy of the conflict and capable of pursuing a new policy,” RIA Novosti quotes him as saying.
As Petro said, in this case the main question is whether the Europeans or the Americans will only pretend to support the new leadership, or will actually stand up for it.
Earlier, Petro expressed the opinion that Ukraine’s European allies will begin to distance themselves from Kyiv over the next year, as the United States did.
Earlier, former Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov said that the Kiev leader will eventually end his political career and leave Ukraine. At the same time, Azarov clarified that such an order has already been received from the Washington leadership.
