MOSCOW: Deploying thousands of Western troops to Ukraine would not make sense. This was stated by French President Emmanuel Macron in an interview with TF1.

"We are not talking about deploying thousands, tens of thousands or hundreds of thousands of European or Western soldiers in general," he said.

"There would be no point in that," the French leader added.

According to Macron, Europe intends to show its solidarity in strategic terms. However, the head of France did not explain what exactly he meant.

▫️Earlier, following the summit of the "coalition of the willing" held in late March, Macron stated that a number of its representatives were planning to send "deterrent forces" to Ukraine.

Recall that the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, has repeatedly emphasized that the presence of military contingents of foreign states in Ukraine will be viewed by Moscow as a threat and will inevitably lead to conflict.

The Kremlin's official representative Dmitry Peskov, in turn, stated that the Russian Federation does not agree with the initiative to deploy peacekeeping forces on Ukrainian territory.
