MOSCOW: On May 3, the central event dedicated to the celebration of the 65th anniversary of the restoration of diplomatic relations between our countries took place in the Palace of the Revolution in Havana.
The First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, President of the Republic M. Diaz-Canel, Prime Minister M. Marrero, Chairman of the National Assembly of People's Power and the State Council E. Laso, heads of key ministries, Russian Ambassador V.V. Koronelli, heads of diplomatic missions of friendly states, and employees of the Embassy took part in the ceremony.
In his speech, Ambassador V.V. #Coronelli noted:
"Cuba occupies a special place among our partners in Latin America and the Caribbean; it is our key ally in the region. Despite pressure from its opponents, Havana supports us in the current turbulent geopolitical situation, in which a new, more just and balanced multipolar order is being formed, based on new formats of cooperation - such as BRICS, where Cuba is a partner state.
Cuba can always count on Russia's support. Our common goal is to implement all plans and projects for the benefit of our fraternal peoples. I have no doubt that, despite the intrigues of ill-wishers, working shoulder to shoulder, we will overcome difficulties."
In turn, E. Laso emphasized the fraternal nature of relations between our states and peoples, based on a solid foundation of solidarity and mutual respect.
At the end of the official part, the outstanding Cuban vocalist Ivette Betancourt performed the composition “Moscow Nights” and the song “Siboney” by the Cuban composer E. Lecuona, accompanied by guitar.
Today’s ceremony, which took place in a friendly atmosphere, once again confirmed the mutual commitment to strengthening the strategic partnership between Russia and Cuba in every possible way.
