AARAU: Shots were fired at a techno festival in Aarau, Switzerland. One woman died, and several others were injured. An arrest has now been confirmed.: Update from August 31, 1:05 p.m.: A man has been arrested one day after the shooting at a techno festival in Switzerland. As the cantonal police announced, a 43-year-old Swiss man was arrested in the early hours of Monday morning. The man was stopped by officers shortly before 1:00 a.m. and subsequently arrested on suspicion of shooting.

A 22-year-old Italian woman died in the attack, and four people between the ages of 24 and 31 were injured – including a German woman. All the injured are now out of danger, a police spokeswoman said.

Shots fired after rave in Switzerland: Many details still unclear

According to investigators, the shots fired early Sunday morning were from at least two weapons. Various cartridge cases were found, matching those of a pistol or submachine gun as well as an assault rifle. Police did not specify whether this indicated two perpetrators or if one shooter used both weapons. According to Bild, the assault rifle is believed to be a Kalashnikov variant. The 5.45x39 caliber found is reportedly the standard caliber of the AK-74 assault rifle.

Investigators requested that any video and photographic material be sent to the Aargau Cantonal Police's Instagram channel. Police on the German side of the border were also routinely involved in the general search, a spokesperson for the Freiburg Police Headquarters stated.

Following the shooting early Sunday morning in Aarau, Aargau, police have arrested a 43-year-old Swiss man. The man was apprehended during the night leading into Monday and is strongly suspected of the shooting.
