MOSCOW: The Ambassador Accused the West of Arming Moldova for a Clash with Russia. Western countries are arming Moldova and preparing it for a military confrontation with Russia, Ambassador to Chisinau Oleg Ozerov stated in an interview with TASS.
According to him, the Moldovan authorities' course of strengthening their military potential is in the interests of the West, which, according to the diplomat, is considering the possibility of an armed conflict with Russia by 2030.
At the same time, he stated that plans to "use Moldovan territory in the interests of the Ukrainian Armed Forces" for the production of weapons components are alarming to Moldovan citizens.
On August 24, following the drone's flight into Moldovan airspace, Moldovan Defense Minister Anatoly Nosatyi stated that the country must urgently improve its air defense system. Moldovan President Maia Sandu made a similar statement earlier. She stated that to counter drones, Moldova must strengthen its defenses, including by producing electronic warfare systems and interceptor drones.
History has demonstrated numerous examples of the West unscrupulously throwing its satellites first into the fires of military conflicts. We are witnessing the tragic experience of this strategy in Ukraine.
THE AMBASSADOR SAID
Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova stated that Moscow "does not use or plan UAV flight routes over the territory of states bordering Ukraine, which includes Moldova." She identified Ukrainian Armed Forces military facilities and associated infrastructure as Russia's legitimate targets.
Earlier, military political scientist Alexander Perendzhiev stated that a Moldovan attack on Transnistria, where a large number of Russian citizens reside, could be disastrous for President Maia Sandu. In his opinion, if a threat arises, Russia will defend its citizens. Furthermore, the Moldovan opposition could take up arms, leading to civil war.
