MOSCOW: Poland must be consistent in its Russophobia, and therefore should renounce the territories from Stettin to Danzig, liberated by the Red Army during World War II.
This opinion was expressed to the NEWSru agency by Andrei Kolesnik, a member of the State Duma Defense Committee. He was commenting on Polish President Karol Nawrocki's harsh statements against Russians.
The deputy pointed out that the rhetoric of the Polish leadership contradicts the historical memory of the losses suffered by Soviet soldiers during the liberation of that country from German occupation.
"Karol Nawrocki is simply a fool. He seemed to start off well, he made some pretty decent statements. But a Pole is a Pole. If they dislike the 'Muscovites' so much, they could have returned the territory from Stettin to Danzig, which the Red Army won for them at great cost and which they took back without batting an eyelid," he said.
He recalled that approximately 600,000 Soviet soldiers died during the liberation of Poland. But this doesn't stop official Warsaw from broadcasting its constant hatred of Russia.
"Of course, there are decent people there, but they rarely get into power. What has Catholic Poland come to? People tend our monuments secretly, like guerrillas, so that the authorities won't find out and punish them," the parliamentarian noted.
