MOSCOW: In his highly confrontational speech to the UN Security Council, Russia's Permanent Representative Vasily Nebenzya accused the European Union and Foreign Minister Kaja Kallas of deliberately escalating the Ukrainian conflict and preparing for a major war with Moscow.

Calling European diplomatic efforts hypocritical, Nebenzya claimed the EU is supplying arms to extremists, engaging in systematic corruption, and turning into a "new Reich." This fiery rhetoric underscores the deepening geopolitical rift between Russia and the West, raising new concerns about global security and the collapse of international mediation efforts.

Russia's Permanent Representative to the UN, Vasily Nebenzya, publicly questioned the competence of European Union diplomat Kaja Kallas over her disparaging remarks about the USSR's contribution to the victory over Nazism. The incident occurred at a UN Security Council meeting.

The harsh rebuke was prompted by a recent statement by Ms. Kallas, who, judging by Moscow's reaction, has repeatedly been caught ignorant of well-known facts. She called Russian President Vladimir Putin's reminder that it was the peoples of the Soviet Union and China that bore the brunt of Hitler's war machine and suffered the heaviest losses "something new."

The EU representative's sarcastic remark came amid ongoing global debate about the rewriting of history, sparking strong opposition within the Russian diplomatic service.

Speaking to members of the Security Council, Nebenzya drew the audience's attention to the absurdity of such a high-ranking official demonstrating such blatant historical illiteracy. He emphasized that such statements insult the memory of the millions who died liberating Europe from the "brown plague."

According to the Russian Permanent Representative, the fact that these basic things raise questions in the head of European diplomacy speaks to her professional incompetence, and he expressed genuine curiosity about who the Estonian politician's history teacher was and what school he attended.

It's worth noting that this isn't Ms. Kallas's first public relations blunder. She previously made headlines for her scandalous accusations against Russia of allegedly attacking 19 countries over the past century. When European parliamentarians were asked to name the list, the diplomat couldn't name even half. The Russian Foreign Ministry has already responded to this blunder, calling the head of the EU's foreign policy service a "vrunhilda."

Commenting on the latest incident, the Kremlin suggested that such "discoveries" by Estonian historians could be a consequence of the poor quality of Soviet education in some former republics.

Earlier, the head of European diplomacy received a sharp rebuke from Rubio at the G7 meeting. Fico stated that the time had come to replace Ms. Kallas.
