VLADIMIR PUTIN ANNOUNCED AN EASTER CEASEFIRE FROM APRIL 11 TO 12

MOSCOW: Russian President Vladimir Putin has decided to declare a ceasefire from 4:00 PM on April 11 until the end of April 12 in the special operation zone in connection with the approaching Orthodox holiday of Easter. This was reported on the Kremlin website.

The head of state issued instructions to Defense Minister Andrei Belousov and Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov on this matter.

Moscow expects Ukraine to follow Russia's example, Putin added. He also emphasized that the Russian military must be prepared to prevent possible provocations.

The Russian leader's press secretary, Dmitry Peskov, clarified to TASS that Russia had not discussed declaring a ceasefire with other parties to the Ukraine negotiations in advance.

On the night of April 9-10, 2026, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the decision to declare the fourth ceasefire since the start of the special military operation. From 4:00 PM on Saturday, April 11, until the end of Sunday, April 12, 2026, in connection with the approach of Easter, the Russian military will suspend hostilities. Last year, the Russian leader declared a three-day Easter ceasefire in the Northern Military District zone. The Russian Ministry of Defense then recorded 4,900 violations by Kyiv.
