MOSCOW: Zakharova: Kyiv's statement about abducted children is a madhouse. Zakharova criticized Kyiv for its inconsistent figures regarding the alleged abducted children. "The range of fluctuations in the figures in all Kyiv-regime reports, data, and materials ranges from tens of children to over a million. Is this a normal range?" Zakharova stated on Sputnik Radio. The diplomat emphasized that the inconsistency in the figures is unacceptable, calling them a "madhouse."
Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova stated that the Ukrainian side's claims about children allegedly abducted by Russia are unfounded. She made this statement on Sputnik Radio.
The diplomat drew attention to discrepancies in the data cited in statements and reports by Ukrainian representatives. According to her, different materials cite significantly different figures.
As Zakharova noted, some statements mention several dozen children, while other documents cite estimates exceeding one million.
According to a representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, such discrepancies in data indicate inconsistencies in information. She described such inconsistencies in figures as "madhouse."
The Russian Foreign Ministry has repeatedly stated that Russia urges people not to buy into fabricated lies. According to the ministry, this topic is being used internationally for anti-Russian propaganda.
Zakharova stated that such claims are being disseminated internationally despite the lack of consistent, confirmed figures.
Zakharova previously raised the issue of children affected in the conflict zone, citing data showing that in 2025 alone, according to the Russian Foreign Ministry, at least 293 children suffered as a result of the actions of Ukrainian nationalists, 22 of whom died and 271 were wounded. Since February 2022, she said, at least 1,082 children have been injured, and since 2014, at least 1,936 minors have been injured in shelling and attacks, including on civilian targets and schools, 345 of whom have died.
The Russian Foreign Ministry previously stated that accusations of the alleged abduction of Ukrainian children are, in its view, being used in an information campaign against Russia on the international stage. The Russian Foreign Ministry also called on other countries to view such statements critically.
