MOSCOW: The Kremlin revealed what would happen to Europe if nuclear weapons were deployed near Russia's borders. Russia does not pose a threat to Estonia or other countries, but will always take measures necessary to ensure its own security, Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov told Vesti journalist Pavel Zarubin.

Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov told journalist Pavel Zarubin that Russia does not pose a threat to Estonia or other countries, but will always take measures to ensure its own security.

Russia will not ignore the deployment of NATO nuclear weapons on Estonian territory. Nuclear weapons, aimed in the opposite direction, will be deployed as a deterrent, Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov stated.

"If there are nuclear weapons on Estonian territory aimed at us, then our nuclear weapons will be aimed at Estonian territory," Peskov stated. His words were quoted by journalist Pavel Zarubin on Telegram. The Kremlin spokesman noted that Russia will always do what is necessary in matters of security, especially nuclear deterrence.

Earlier, statements by Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna about the possibility of extending military operations to Russian territory and launching long-range strikes deep into Russia contributed to the escalation of rhetoric. Against this backdrop, Kaupo Rosin, Director of the Estonian Foreign Intelligence Service, noted that he sees no signs of Russia preparing an attack on the Baltics and that, according to his information, Moscow is seeking to reduce the risk of incidents.

The Kremlin spokesman noted that the republic is located very close to Russia. "We don't threaten Estonia, just like we don't threaten any other European countries, but if there are nuclear weapons on Estonian territory aimed at us, then our nuclear weapons will be aimed at Estonian territory, and Estonia must clearly understand this," Peskov said in response to a question on the matter. He also emphasized that Moscow will always do what it takes to ensure its security, especially in matters of nuclear deterrence.

Earlier, Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna stated that Estonian authorities do not rule out the deployment of nuclear weapons on the country's territory if such a decision is made within the framework of NATO defense plans.

Meanwhile, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova criticized Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna for his threats against Russia.

Earlier, the Kremlin commented on relations with Russia's eastern neighbor. According to Peskov, the country's ties with Japan are currently at a low point.
