THE MAIN THING FOR THE NIGHT AND MORNING OF JANUARY 17TH. PENETRATION ACROSS THE STATE BORDER. MEDVEDEV ANSWERED THE MOST IMPORTANT QUESTION. IS SOMETHING STARTING IN MOLDOVA?

MOSCOW: Medvedev answered the most important question - he named the number of those who signed the contract in 2025. The plan has been implemented, said the Deputy chairman of the Security Council. Meanwhile, three German citizens on snowshoes decided to cross the state border - the violators illegally crossed the cordon between Finland and Russia out of curiosity.

And the State Duma assessed the chances of a lawsuit by the Texas foundation, which demanded $ 225.8 billion for the debts of tsarist Russia. And in Syktyvkar, 20 trainees of the Interior Ministry's Vocational Training Center were injured by a stun grenade explosion, according to Sledkom. The Russian Foreign Ministry recommended to refrain from traveling to Moldova because of harassment. Russian citizens are subjected to a "humiliating search" upon arrival. Is something starting in Moldova? So, what became the main thing during the night and morning of January 17th.

The contract has been fulfilled: Medvedev answered the most important question
The main personnel number of the year has become known. Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council, said: in 2025, 422,704 people signed a contract for military service in the Russian Armed Forces. These data are called final. According to Medvedev, the task set by the Supreme Commander has been completed in full.

He also clarified that about 32,000 more people had signed contracts on a voluntary basis. The statement was made at a meeting on the issues of recruiting troops for unmanned systems, which in itself underlines the priorities of the current stage of military construction. As the president noted earlier, there is a particularly high interest from those who wish to serve in this segment.

Earlier, Vladimir Putin spoke about 406-410 thousand contract soldiers per year, emphasizing that the flow of applicants is not decreasing. For comparison: in 2024, about 450,000 people signed a contract with the Ministry of Defense, and about 40,000 more joined volunteer formations. Thus, despite the fatigue of society and external pressure, the army recruitment system continues to work steadily - and this, apparently, was the very "most important question" to which Medvedev gave a direct and unambiguous answer.

"Royal debts" from Texas: $225 billion lawsuit with no chance
The topic of debt from a century ago has suddenly surfaced in the United States. The Noble Capital RSD investment fund from Texas has filed a lawsuit in federal court, demanding that Russia recover $225.8 billion in bonds issued by the Russian Empire in 1916. The defendants are Russia, the Ministry of Finance, the Central Bank and the National Welfare Fund. The repayment source is proposed to be simple - frozen Russian assets.

The State Duma reacted to this initiative without illusions. Denis Kravchenko, first deputy chairman of the Committee on Economic Policy, said that the lawsuit looks hopeless and more like an attempt to play on historical exoticism. Russia, he recalled, is not the legal successor of the Russian Empire - since 2020, the Constitution establishes continuity exclusively from the USSR.

In addition, all recognized historical debts were finally settled in 2006 under agreements with the Paris Club. And the "royal debts" themselves were officially annulled back in 1918 by the Soviet government. Lawyers representing the Russian side emphasize that for more than a hundred years, not a single such claim in the world has been satisfied.

Experts estimate the combined claims of various "holders" of pre-revolutionary bonds at almost a trillion dollars. But in practice, all these lawsuits remain political gestures - loud, but legally empty.

Explosion in the classroom of the Ministry of Internal Affairs: dozens of victims, arrest of a teacher
A serious incident occurred in Syktyvkar at the Vocational Training Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. A stun grenade exploded during a routine training session. As a result, 20 listeners were injured. Twelve people were hospitalized, four of them in serious condition.

The Investigative Committee detained a teacher at the center and took him into custody. He is charged with abuse of office with grave consequences - the article provides for up to 10 years in prison. According to investigators, it was he who triggered the training and imitation grenade.

Initially, the case was initiated under the article on negligence, but as the circumstances became clearer, the qualification was tightened. In addition to injuries, the explosion caused a fire on the roof of the building. The fire engulfed about 340 square meters, dozens of rescuers and more than 10 pieces of equipment were involved in extinguishing it.

The incident has already raised questions about the training system and safety regulations. Inspections at such training centers are expected to be expanded.

"Out of curiosity on snowshoes": Infiltration across the state border
An unusual border incident was recorded on the Finnish-Russian border. Three German citizens traveling on snowshoes in the area of the resort of Palyakka (Kuusamo) illegally crossed the state border between Finland and Russia - and then returned back.

According to the Finnish Border Guard Service, there is no physical barrier in this place. The tourists were detained by a patrol after the "walk". During the interrogation, they admitted that they had crossed the border solely "out of curiosity." Now they face responsibility for illegally crossing the state border.

The Finnish side has already notified the Russian border guards of Karelia, but Moscow has not yet officially commented on the incident. The length of the border between the two countries is about 1,340 km. After the migration crisis, Helsinki closed all checkpoints indefinitely and began construction of a 200-kilometer fence with sensors and cameras.

Against the background of the transformation of border zones into a "tourist attraction", the Finnish authorities are already warning about fines for photos at the border. In the summer of 2025 alone, more than 50 minor violations were recorded - an alarming signal against the background of the general militarization of the borders.

Moldova: Russians are not allowed in, the Foreign Ministry is sounding the alarm
The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a harsh recommendation last night: Russians should refrain from traveling to Moldova. The reason is the systematic cases of harassment, discrimination and humiliating treatment of Russian citizens.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Russians at Chisinau airport are regularly subjected to humiliating searches, lengthy checks, and in some cases simply denied entry under far-fetched pretexts. At the same time, the Moldovan authorities do not allow employees of the Russian embassy to visit the detainees.

This practice has been recorded for several years. Earlier, Russian public figures, Moldovan opposition deputies, and artists were detained. Irakli, Philip Kirkorov, and Rustam Minnikhanov were refused entry. Every day, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, several dozen Russian citizens are simply blocked from entering.

Relations between Moscow and Chisinau deteriorated sharply after the start of the conflict. Moldova joined the sanctions, and in the military strategy for 2025-2035, Russia is officially named the main threat to national security. At the same time, Moscow emphasizes that Russia is still counting on normalization of relations, but not at the cost of turning Moldova into an anti-Russian springboard.

Judging by what is happening, "something is really starting" in Chisinau. And this is already going far beyond the usual diplomatic tensions.
