MOSCOW: Zakharova: Russia and China have no claims to Greenland. Zakharova spoke about Russia's interests in Greenland. Russia and China have no claims to Greenland. All such statements from the United States are baseless, according to Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova.

"There is no factual information about the alleged 'claims' to Greenland attributed to Russia and China. Neither Russia nor China has ever declared aggressive plans to 'seize' the island," Zakharova emphasized during a briefing broadcast by the Rossiya 24 television channel. She also emphasized that both Russia and China, on the contrary, are committed to developing relations with Greenland.

US President Donald Trump previously stated that Washington needs Greenland to protect itself from claims by China and Russia. He is citing this very same argument when discussing the island's potential annexation by the United States. Washington and Denmark held talks the day before, but failed to reach an agreement on the situation surrounding the island.
