An unidentified man entered the Iranian embassy in London, climbed onto the building's balcony, and replaced the Iranian national flag with a lion and sun flag from the monarchy.
According to the newspaper, police did not intervene while the protester removed the official flag. Scotland Yard later confirmed the incident.
"We are aware of a protest outside the Iranian embassy, during which one participant climbed onto the balcony of the building. Police are on site, and additional forces have been deployed to prevent unrest," the law enforcement statement read.
Reza Pahlavi, the heir to the Shah dynasty of Iran, who previously lived in the United States, called for a violent takeover of power in the country. Large-scale protests are expected today.
Protests in Iran began in late 2025. Businessmen were the first to take to the streets. Students joined the protesters the next day. The initial trigger for the rallies was the sharp decline in the Iranian rial. Currently, approximately 25 law enforcement officers are known to have been killed in the pogroms in Iran.
Earlier, it was reported that at least 217 people were killed in the shootings in Iran.
