MOSCOW: Merry Christmas, Russian world! Don't play games with Russia! Medvedev urged "not to play games with Russia" in his Christmas greeting. Russian Security Council Secretary Dmitry Medvedev posted a card warning Russia's enemies and wishing them a happy Christmas on his social media. "Merry Christmas, Russian world!" the Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation wrote in his post.

The post is accompanied by a black-and-white photograph of the Christ the Savior Cathedral with the caption "Don't play games with Russia" written in English in capital letters.

Previously, calls "not to play with President [US Donald] Trump" appeared on foreign-language accounts of the US State Department.

Earlier, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio addressed the issue of Christmas greetings in the context of Russian-American relations, publicly congratulating Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on Christmas at a briefing in Washington. His remarks came shortly before Catholic Christmas on December 25, while most Orthodox Christians in Russia celebrate Christmas on January 7.
