MOSCOW: Putin arrived in Magadan, where he will visit an industrial enterprise and meet with the regional governor, the Kremlin reported. After that, he will go to meet with Trump in Alaska

Russian President Vladimir Putin flew to Magadan before meeting with his American counterpart Donald Trump in Alaska, the Russian leader's press secretary Dmitry Peskov said, TASS reports.

Peskov noted that the trip to Magadan will be "full-fledged": Putin will visit an industrial enterprise and meet with the regional governor. After that, the head of state will go to Alaska.

"Naturally, heading in that direction [to the northeast, towards Alaska], given the geography of our country, the president never misses an opportunity to deal with regional affairs. He will do so this time too," Peskov said.

His press secretary announced the day before that Putin would visit one of the Russian regions before his trip to Alaska.

The meeting between Putin and Trump will take place at the Elmendorf-Richardson Joint Military Base in Anchorage, Alaska. The summit is scheduled to begin at approximately 22:30 Moscow time. The main topic will be the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine.

The Russian delegation included presidential aide Yuri Ushakov, defense, foreign and finance ministers Andrei Belousov, Sergei Lavrov and Anton Siluanov, as well as the head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), special presidential representative for investment and economic cooperation with foreign countries Kirill Dmitriev.

Three Russian special flights have already arrived in Alaska, including those with journalists from the Kremlin pool. Dmitriev arrived in Anchorage on one of them. According to RIA Novosti, Lavrov and Russian Ambassador to the United States Alexander Darchiev also arrived there. A video recording with a commentary by Siluanov, who also arrived in Alaska, appeared on the Telegram channel of VGTRK journalist Pavel Zarubin.
